Meet the team

Audrey MacLennan
Manager

I have worked in the Early Learning and Childcare sector for over twenty years and have gained both SVQ qualifications and the BA Childhood and Youth Studies degree. It has always been my absolute passion to shape and nurture the minds of young children and I find it such a fulfilling and rewarding profession.  Our staff at Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre are an incredibly dedicated group of practitioners. It is such an honour and privilege to work alongside them to provide a high-quality Early Learning and Childcare experience for the children of Drumnadrochit and the wider Glen Urquhart area.   In my spare time I love to unwind by running, walking and spending time with family and friends.

Chloe Cromarty
Assistant Manager

I have grown up and lived in Drumnadrochit all my life. For the last 4 years I have been part of the fantastic team at Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre. I have gained my SVQ 3 qualification as well as a degree in Child and Youth Studies.   In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog on the beautiful Scottish beaches, travelling on holidays and spending time with my family and friends.

Donna Brady
Administrator

I recently joined the centre in Aug 2018, leaving a career in Civil Service for a job closer to home and one I knew I’d enjoy. I have 4 children, ranging from 20 years down to twins of 6- all have attended GUCC and have enjoyed every minute of their time here. I served as a Trustee on the board for a couple of years and helped with fundraisers before the opportunity arose to join the Centre as Administrator- and here I am! The Centre is such an integral part of the community and I love being part of the team. When I’m not in the office, I love spending time with my family and my 3 dogs in the outdoors. I never take our beautiful village for granted and having lived here for 40 years; I don’t expect I’ll be leaving anytime soon!

Amanda Baird
Room Supervisor

I have lived and worked in the beautiful Highlands now for 18 years but my career in childcare started when I left High school 20 years ago. Starting out as a trainee I have now worked my way up to supervisor. I took some time out of the nursery setting and became a childminder so I could care for my own children at a young age. I have now been working for Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre for 6 years and I love my job. Out of work I enjoy spending time with my 2 children Andrew 8 and Nicole 16. Family and friends mean the world to me along with my lovely puppy dog Bono who keeps me busy and active with lots of nice long walks.

Karen Fraser
Room / Holiday Club Supervisor

I trained as a NNEB and later completed my Advanced PDA in Childcare and Education. I started working in Lewiston Nursery when my wonderful son started, 23 years ago. Some years later we relocated to Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre, where we are today. During this time, I have had a variety of roles but nothing beats being on the floor, as the joy of working with children and hearing their laughter is what has kept me here all these years. It is so rewarding, and no day is ever the same.

Siân Tembo
Early Years Practitioner

I started working at the Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre in 2018 after changing career and having a family of my own. I have furthered my knowledge within the childcare sector by completing a compliment of training qualifications and workshops, presently undertaking my SVQ in Social Services Children and Young People. Within the role of Early Years Practitioner, it is very much about what you can give rather than what you get, and that is why my position is so enjoyable and rewarding.  In my spare time I love going on adventures with my family, travelling and learning new ideas.

Marika Paszek
Early Years Practitioner

In 2007 I left my family home in Poland and moved to Drumnadrochit. I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful country like Scotland and being able to explore stunning landscapes and breath-taking settings. In 2018 I completed the HNC Childhood Practice and have been employed at Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre since 2018.   There is nothing more rewarding than enabling a child to explore, see and learn. I never get bored when I’m around children as you get so much back from them!   My spare time is spent with loved ones.

Melissa Macdonald Haig
Early Years Practitioner

I have worked in childcare for over 12 years, joining Glen Urquhart childcare centre in November 2007. Whilst working here I complete my SVQ 3 which supported me within my role as an EYP. Every day is different and it’s so nice to live in a small community and watch all the children blossom into young adults.   Out of work I enjoy walking and exploring this beautiful area. I can often be found spending time in my garden, a passion which I share with the children in the centre.

Zoe Lumsden
Early Years Practitioner

I have been working in the childcare sector now for around 4 years. I completed my SVQ 3 in December 2017 and joined the team here at Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre in March 2018. I really love my job and no two days are the same.  In my spare time I enjoy walking and going to the gym.

Vicky Mackinnon
Gaelic Early Years Practitioner

Hi, my name is Vicky MacKinnon and I am the Gaelic Early Years Practitioner at Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre. In 2012 I graduated from Inverness college with a HNC in Early Education and Childcare and I was lucky enough to get a job at the centre. I have a 2 young boys Louie and Harry who keep me on my toes. In my spare time I love taking the boys to the park, the beach and swimming.

Caron McCluskey
Early Years Practitioner

After a change in career I joined Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre in 2015. I have been studying towards my SVQ 3 Social Services – Children and Young People. I love watching children grow and blossom and feel privileged to work with such genuinely caring people in our wonderful setting. In my spare time I enjoy walking with my wee dog and avoiding housework!

Becki MacDonald-Haig
Early Years Support Worker

I am very excited to be the newest member of this super team.  I spent twenty wonderful years providing riding therapy for many generations and am so pleased to be able to take my passion for nurturing people in a fresh direction, here at the Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre.  I have a particular interest in additional support needs and will be accessing training in this area.  In my spare time I love nothing better than disappearing into the hills with my horse and my dog, or catching up with friends and family.
